HOPE YOU ALL HAD A FANTASTIC CHRISTMAS!!! I hope you all had a magical Christmas, and have an even better new year. Sienna Miller in Alfie is my dress inspiration for New Year. Not just New Year, but all year round. I think, even though she didn't have a lead role in the film, her style in it is reminiscent of Marianne & Anita. I've been really busy these past few days with work and Open Uni work, I really resent myself for being a bad blogger sometimes. I've had a lot of lovely emails & comments from readers and lots of requests for more outfit posts, and for those of you that have been following my blog for a while, you'll know that I had a camera, but it got stolen. I haven't had a chance to get hold of a good camera ever since then and each outfit photo I've done has been grainy and frankly, horrible to look at. I desperately want to get my hands on an SLR pronto. Once I get hold of a decent camera I promise my blog will develop more and I will feel much more motivitated and inspired. For now I leave you with a couple of photos of my favourite things at the moment; firstly, this photo of Keith Richards I found on Spanish Moss blog, wearing my favourite 'Keef' combination of leopard print, polka dots & pirate stripes. And secondly, the most beautiful pair of shoes I've ever seen. A combination of everything I like about shoes (leopard print, gold block heel, cheeky zipper up the back, platform & black velvet), something I can imagine the female version of Keith Richards wearing... I'm going to London tomorrow and will be spending hours in Topshop Oxford Circus rummaging the sale & I might just commit to buying these fabulous (non sale) shoes. Expect lots of tweets about my shoe lust.

ABBEY LEE FOR MANIA MANIA 'THE THIRD MIND'

When I saw these photos of Abbey Lee Kershaw for Mania Mania on http://oraclefox.blogspot.com/ I just had to re-blog them. As usual, anything with Abbey Lee featured catches my eye, but in these photos especially, she looks particularly fresh faced and the amazing kaleidoscopic imagery portrays her image, the brand and the jewellery just perfectly.

ODE TO ANITA.

Post dedicated to Anita Pallenberg. So powerful & inspirational that she set the trend for the influence of black magic & witchcraft in fashion, cast a spell on almost all of the original Stones members and was the entire inspiration for Brian, Mick & Keith's late sixties wardrobe. At the same time as portraying elegance and natural beauty, she was well known for her addictive, loud personality and rock n' roll attitude. A clash which can only work well as a Rolling Stones' girlfriend of course.

WHITE HOT GLISTENING SHADOWY GLOW

Although this editorial has been splashed across the fashion blogs for a little while now and many of you may have already seen it, I felt the need to re-post it, so those of you who haven't yet seen it can. It's always so refreshing to come across editorials or campaigns based on the sixties and seventies style and with a name like 'Almost Famous' you almost instantly know what the influences will be. With thanks to the likes of Spanish Moss and American Gold's creativity and ever growing success, the bohemian style of late 1960's California has sprung back into the fashion and blogging world again. Not to mention the influences from Wicca, religion and Native Americans, alltogether creating the whole 'bohemian' image.
This editorial depicts typical rock n' roll scenes that could so easily be stills from Cameron Crowe's Almost Famous film. Girls draped in feathers, fur, glitter & kohl, showing their love and appreciation to a dandy guy with a guitar. Always so inspiring. Not just the clothes, but the lifestyle.

'HALF GYPSY, HALF PIRATE'

Pirates, or shall I say the Pirate stereotype, is a huge influence for me when it comes to dress sense and pretty boys. There's something about long hair, a moustache, a bandana, a hoop earring, feathers & a floppy hat that I developed a fascination with at first which has now turned into an obsession. Maybe it started with Keith Richards & the Stones, who take their fashion influences from pirates & dandys. There are so many celebrities, particularly male of course, who I would say had the 'pirate' image... Axl Rose, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, Devendra Banhart, many folk musicians, and the look in fashion was brought back with Vivienne Westwood's Pirate collection in the seventies. Trying to think what attracts me so much to this image is hard, but I think it's probably the mystique, the fact the pirate image dates back to ancient times (which immediately makes it a fascinating & historical subject) or maybe the whole 'bad guy' thing. Basically, lacking better words, I want to be a pirate. Or a mermaid. A girl with long red hair who sits on the rocks at the edge of the sea combing my hair & singing, to lure pirates into crashing their ships to find out who the mysterious voice at sea belongs to. My imagination is getting way ahead of itself... last night I had a dream that people were eating dragon skin because it had an ingredient in it which got them high. You could get different colours of dragon skin dependant on how high you actually wanted to get. Are dragons real?! Are mermaids real?! Are unicorns real?! I don't care if it's been proven or not, I'm going to imagine they are and think up ancient fairytales in my head. Anyway, back to pirates, one day I hope to meet a pirate man. Above are a collaboration of pirate influences and then a vanity collaboration of my take on the pirate style... I gaurantee there will be more to come as I pretty much only ever dress like a pirate these days. Enjoy! xo.

WE HAVEN'T HAD THAT SPIRIT HERE SINCE, 1969

Tomorrow evening (after an awkward shift at work) I will be heading off to Hop Farm festival. I'll be staying there 4 nights and seeing Iggy Pop & the Stooges, Morrissey, The Eagles, 10CC, Bryan Ferry, Brandon Flowers, The Human League, The Duke Spirit, Lou Reed, Gang of Four, Patti Smith, Newton Faulkner, Prince, & many more. I am excited beyond belief, having not actually been to an official festival before, I am getting excited about all the little things like outfits & putting up the tent, and pretending I'm at Woodstock. However after two days I'll probably be absolutely exhausted and filthy. Is anyone else who's reading this going?! Would be good to bump into some people there! I'll be back on Monday, equipped with gossip stories & photos of my pasty legs. Leaving you with some festival inspiration photos now. Bye! xo

I'M THE FACE

Edie Sedgwick: troubled, rebellious, charming, talented & beautiful. A girl who got carried away, but still she had the ability (which not a lot of people have) to walk into a room and have all the attention on her. Andy could notice it in her within seconds of meeting her. Main look would be a black leotard, giant earrings, painted brows & painted eyes.

Pattie Boyd: innocent, gap toothed, pretty girl look. Probably can pull off any style. Typical 60's go-go girl. Main look would be little black dress, black mary-jane heels and a headband.

Marianne Faithfull: biker, rock chick, fur & leather. The main inspiration of mine. Innocent face yet apparently not innocent character. Influential style from her film Girl on a Motorcycle. Main look would be faux fur coat, leather trousers, big rings and messy hair, 'glam boheme'.

Jane Birkin: brunette with a bambi face & doe eyes. Ex girlfriend & muse of musical icon Serge Gainsbourg. Notice how in every picture it's pretty much the same facial expression - wide eyed as if in shock, but also innocence. Main look would be simplistic jewellery, simplistic hair and a white crochet dress with loafers and a straw satchel.

Brigitte Bardot: the sex symbol of the sixties. Famous for her versatile hair, wide eyes and gap toothed pout. Influential to alot of people these days such as Kate Moss, Sienna Miller, Lara Stone & Georiga May Jagger. Main look would be leopard print, black leather jacket, lip liner, eyeliner, and bouffant hair.

Twiggy: last but not least. A supermodel, one of the most influential & inspirational girls of all time. Everything about Twiggy is unique, or was at the time. Which is why she set a style and changed the way people looked at fashion & beauty. Main look would be heavily painted eyes, patent pumps, defined brows and a black & white Mary Quant dress.

These are all the women that highly influence my image. Inspirational all for different ways and truly iconic. Nothing about them was false, pretentious or put on and they were legends because they were themselves, not because they put on an act or cry for attention (minus Edie Sedgwick in certain circumstances perhaps), but still, Edie was famous and well liked because of the act and confidence she put on. They set the scene for many models, actresses & musicians today and I think someone who can inspire generations after them definitely deserves such a high status, and better still a place on this blog post. xo

IT'S ONLY ROCK N' ROLL

I would love to do a photoshoot like this - capturing that scene with those clothes can really make you feel like you're living in 1969 again. I just wish it wasn't all a dream.
