Does anyone else not hugely appreciate Mike Oldfield? I seem to be the only person who does, and every time I mention him, everyone's reaction is either ''who the fuck is Mike Oldfield'' or ''oh yeah Tubular Boobies''. My whole family are really into his music, and when I was little Tubular Bells II had just been released so my parents used to play it all the time and it quickly became my favourite album at the age of 5. I remember we had the live VHS of Tubular Bells II and I always used to ask to watch it. For those of you that don't know him, he's responsible for making Richard Branson a millionaire. Tubular Bells was his best selling album which was released in 1973 under Virgin records, which was then not half as well known as it is now, and the release of Tubular Bells sold millions of records which, therefore, made Richard Branson a millionaire. Mike Oldfield's music completely kicked off the Virgin company. He is a musical genius, his music consisting of folk, progressive rock, world, rock & roll, pop and blues. He is capable of playing guitar, piano, percussion, bass and vocals aswell as many others, and all his works are entirely different. Favourite albums are Tubular Bells I & II, Ommadawn, Crises and Hergest Ridge. Also, an added bonus, he really is quite beautiful.
