Wear Winter Knits Now ....

Today I am wearing a Denim Dress with a http://www.boohoo.com/ cardi ....

To help you get your head around autumn/winter trends in summer, here are a few stylish ways to wear knitwear from Shopstyle trend expert Sarah Bush:

1.     Fine knits are versatile enough to be worn with skirts, cinched in with a belt over a dress, tucked into shorts or trousers or worn over the top of skinny jeans.

2.     Accessorise with skinny belts around the waist for a more sophisticated look, a tribal necklace for a bohemian feel or a patterned scarf for the colder days.

3.     Stick to muted colours for a city-chic style, or if you are feeling bold, go for a cobalt blue or emerald green to contrast the dreary skies.

4.     To dress for those chilly summer nights, tuck a fine-knit nautical striped top into a pair of chinos, and team with a pair of killer heels.  ShopSyle has picked out the best summer knits across all brands for your wardrobe investment here.

Teen fashion trends – A collage campus

These days’ college fashion trends are no longer restricted to being replica of celebrities. College students are also establishing their fashion intelligence and have turn out to be a topic of great conversation about fashion. We know fashion is an ever growing impression, which is generally borrowed from the earlier period. Therefore, here are some ever green college fashion trends.

Denim
White shirt and denim jeans have at all times their copyright on casual wears and are still hit. Now, accepting the college crowd needs, various fashion houses have started experiments on denim. High rise, Low waist, mid rise, buttoned up etc. Having bought that you can now experiment you own sense of fashion into it.

Black Is Beautiful

Black color is always beautiful. Teenage fashion tips also allow you to have black in your clothing. Black is stylish and for the college dates and special days you can exhibit yourself in black to grab all the attention.

Careless Beauty

You are at the best age of life and your beauty is a gift to you. Make up is to hide the faults; you do not need it now. Enjoy your casual way of life and stay happy. Don’t be too perfect. Over dressing will only make up stand out from crowd and kill the casual mood.

Chino Time ...

Roll Up, Roll Up ...... its the perfcet look to roll with the Summer.

Not quite sunny enough for shorts then this is the perfcet solution. Just make sure you flash a bit of leg.

Today I am wearing Topshop Chino's with a New Look Blouse ....

Sandra Okuma Beaded Shoes

(Beaded Shoes by Sandra Okuma, Shoshone/Luiseno, at the 2011 SWAIA Santa Fe Indian Market. Photo by Amber-Dawn Bear Robe)

My friend Amber-Dawn Bear Robe spotted these awesome shoes at the Santa Fe Indian Market last weekend. They are made by Sandra Okuma, who is of Shosone-Banock and Luiseno heritage. With an education in commercial art from Los Angeles Tech, she worked as a graphic designer for a number of years. She is inspired by antique Indian beadwork as well as contemporary powwow regalia to create masterly paintings and beaded items. Her vibrantly-colored paintings depict people of all ages and tribal affiliations in elegant powwow-style clothing with beaded accessories.

Today it’s Fashion, Tomorrow its pain

Looking good might not always be the best thing for you. Today’s society is highly fashion and style mindful. Unfortunately, clothing designers and stylists aim to satisfy by creating unique looks that might not always be realistic or even comfortable.

Women usually wear high heels to match an outfit, not for comfort, but some might not understand that these shoes can cause serious ache in the feet and can also make worse back pain. High heels adjust the balanced position of a person’s body. When a woman wears high heels, a new dynamic equilibrium occurs. Fundamentally, wearing high heels for any short of time increases the normal forward curve of the back and causes the pelvis to tip forward. This alters the normal pattern of the pelvis and spine necessary for the body to maintain a center of gravity.

Both men and women fall into the fashion trap. However, women, more than men, tend to wear outfit that are too tight. Stylish tight tube skirts and tight pants can be good-looking, but are often too restrictive. Clothes that are too tight throw a person off-balance, and simple everyday tasks such as bending, sitting and walking become hard. Tight clothes restrict a person from moving comfortably, resulting in poor bearing and misalignment of the spine.

One should keep in mind, whatever things that we consider as today’s fashion might be tomorrow’s pain. We must be careful in choosing the right fashion attires like shoes, high heels, tight pants and shirts. Choose the cloths and fashion accessories that mostly fit our body. Enjoy the world of fashion trends with comfort.

Tom Ford Weighs in on Indian Market Clothing Contest

Ford weighs in on Indian Market clothing contest
Kay Lockridge | For The New Mexican
August 21, 2011

Tom Ford, fashion designer extraordinaire and award-winning film director and producer, had to be convinced to join the panel of judges for the annual Native American Clothing Contest at Indian Market.

"Yes, it's true, Richard [Richard Buckley, fashion journalist and Ford's partner of 25 years] did persuade me to be a judge this year, but he won't ever have to persuade me again. I'll be happy to come back whenever they [Southwestern Association for Indian Arts] want me.

"It was so much fun to be part of the contest. I had been to the competition in the past but only as an observer. It's really important to support and encourage Native American arts, and that includes clothing," Ford said.

Buckley, who has sponsored the contest for the past four years and is a member of SWAIA, echoed Ford's words.

"The important thing is to encourage Native American culture and all the arts," Buckley said. "The clothing competition is my baby, and I wanted to share it with Tom. We've always made a good team."

When asked whether he found what he was looking for in terms of design elements, Ford responded enthusiastically, "Oh, yes! Good things are always good things and stand out. Good, creative design strikes a chord with people.

"This is true whether we're talking about traditional or contemporary design. What I found exceptional in the contemporary competition was that designers were faithful to traditional Native American elements and yet presented them with a new, fresh perspective."

Ford said that he particularly was pleased with the recipient of the first-place award in Contemporary Adult Women, Naomi Bebo Maybee (Menominee/Hochunk), who wore a Japanese-inspired kimono designed by her mother-in-law, Toni Williams, and 1-year-old Persephone Maybee, daughter of Naomi and artist Dallin Maybee (Arapaho/Seneca), who took Female Best in Show with a head-to-toe outfit created by her father.

"This was a family affair," Ford noted. "You could see the shared vision. I was quite taken with both outfits. This is what keeps me coming back," Ford said.

THE PIERCES

I discovered this band when browsing through Kirby's blog - http://thelifeofalostmuse.blogspot.com/. Two sisters, one blonde, one brunette, from Birmingham, Alabama. After trying and failing at the music industry a few years ago with their previous albums not becoming huge hits, the girls were ready to give up. Until Coldplay bass player contacted them and rescued them from their sorrows, and out they came with a brand new look, style and album entitled 'You & I'. The girls claim they were brought up with hippie parents who encouraged them to play musical instruments and listen to the likes of Simon & Garfunkel and the Mamas & the Papas from an early age. It seems there's a gap in the music industry at the moment for 60's influenced harmonised folk-pop bands, especially with female vocalists, and the Pierces more than fill this gap. If I was to hear one of their songs on the radio, without knowing what they look like or seeing their music videos, I would naturally assume they were the love-children of Michelle Phillips and Mama Cass Elliott. Not only similar sounding to the Mamas (without) the Papas, they also bear a huge resemblance to the early 70's band 'Heart'. However, the Pierces in all their dolly girl innocence and angelic harmonies, seem to have a much darker side. Their lyrics pay tribute to magic spells, dark romance, long lost lovers and witchcraft, insinuating that the girls or at least one of them has had a troubled past which has clearly heavily influenced their song writing. This not being bad, in my opinion this only makes the Pierces more intriguing and mysterious, wanting to know more about them as a band and their past endeavours.

Their music videos feature Spanish Moss-alike clothes draped over the girls and their friends, vast scenery, symbolism, kaleidoscopic imagery and Pagan rituals taking place. Very inspirational and fascinating to watch. As well as clearly having song writing and musical talent, they are fashion icons and huge representatives of late sixties folk music. I can't wait to see what they come up with next.

The Pierces are currently touring the UK, I am seeing them play in Brighton on the 11th October. See their website here for more info: http://thepiercesmusic.com/.

Patricia Michaels Guerrilla Fashion Parade

Hey folks!
I'm just now somewhat bouncing back from my trip last weekend to Santa Fe where I checked out the SWAIA Indian Market. Showcasing over 1100 artists from 100 tribes, the Santa Fe Indian Market is the largest cultural event in New Mexico, attracting 100,000 visitors per year. The Indian Market features visual arts competitions, film screenings, musical performances, lectures, galas and much more. The fashion events are already getting press coverage - and here's one article on Patricia Michaels' guerilla-style fashion walk on the plaza last Saturday morning.

If you were at Santa Fe Indian Market this morning you may have been treated to a high fashion parade of models sporting Patricia Michaels designs.

Patricia's leggy, white haired models paraded through the market this morning carrying huge floral pieces and parasols... all Patricia Michaels designs. It just goes to show you that Indian Market is going contemporary.... little by little.
