STAND UP AND BE COUNTED, FOR WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO RECEIVE

This is what I have been thinking about for the past couple of days. I am about to begin reading Pamela Des Barres' - I'm with the Band for the third time. This song (below) played with these pictures will speak for me.

INSPIRATION: PAMELA DES BARRES

Pamela Des Barres - the one who started it all. The one who was dillying about with rockstars before Jimmy Page had even heard of Lori Maddox, who was pals with Captain Beefheart before he even became famous, who was so cool she had her own 'groupie band' (The GTO'S) and who was so iconic she was the sole inspiration for the legendary character of Penny Lane in Almost Famous. Pamela was offiicially the first groupie in rock n' roll history, she inspired a generation and over 40 years later her natural charm and groupie talent is still the inspiration for the girls who follow Kings of Leon around. From being known as purely a 'groupie' which to many people means absolutely nothing apart from sleeping with rockstars, she is now known as an author, singer, actress, model & legend. Her book 'I'm With The Band' is essentially a rock n' roll diary, her best kept secrets all spilled and filled with tips on how to get the guitarist. If you haven't read it, it is one of the best and most inspiring books of that era and I would highly recommend it to anyone who has ever felt the urge to go and stalk a band as you won't get very far without having read Pamela's tricks of the trade. Regardless of all that, it's very honest, deep and heartwarming, not to mention the fact she really was a true style icon.
