stop, hey, what's that sound?

i have a new fascination with buffalo springfield, and this song makes me want to live in a hippy commune. i was having a conversation with my friend the other day about this - every song you listen to that is considered 'old' (from a different era, anything different to the kind of music about today) you can create a scene in your head that the music reminds you of. every single song takes you somewhere else and you imagine that this specific song is just the soundtrack to that specific moment. but when you listen to the music of these days, like lady gaga and all these stupid people like tiny tempa or whatever his name is, the music is just so bleak? it doesn't remind you of anything, it doesn't make you create an image in your head, it isn't special in any way and you wont remember it forever, it's all just electronic noises that are so un-inspiring. it's sad really how music has developed in yes - a negative way. you try listening to dizzee rascal and see what image you can create in your head, i gaurantee it will be nothing.
