Today I was in Lewes, where I went a few weeks ago with my friend. There were two men sitting outside a cafe who caught my eye and looked so fantastic that I had to tell someone about them. Dressed in fringed trousers with tatty laced shoes, blazers, paisley scarves, facial hair and equipped with a gold earring. They were what I would describe as the epitomy of Bohemian and genuinely looked like characters out of a film or story book. They looked like they belonged in the back alleys of Montmartre in 1910, perched outside a bookshop playing the sitar to passers by. I could picture it just looking at them and I wanted to frame them and put them on my wall. Their faces looked haggard and like they'd had one hell of a lifetime, I wanted to sit with them, have a cigarette and hear their stories. I was surprised when one of them left and went across the road to the upstairs of an old second-hand bookstore, so he either lives above the shop or works there. Yes, I am stalking him, I would love to see them again and next time I'll take a photo. I love seeing people that set off images in your mind of where they could be from, what they've done, what era they would fit in to, people that you're attracted to, who you want to just look at for a long time and think about their history. You know the kind I mean, if not you'll know it when you see it. Vivian Stanshall is what these men looked like, that's probably the closest image I can give you.
PS - I edited my blog, got really bored of the other layout. Now it's superwide. Hope it looks okay.
